BigQuery is a fully managed, serverless enterprise data warehouse. The product is developed and offered by Google. Please note that BigQuery is a cloud data warehouse that enables enterprises to analyze large datasets using SQL queries.
It comes with built-in machine learning capabilities.
Google defines BigQuery as autonomous data to AI platform. The entire data lifecycle gets automated with Google’s BigQuery – right from data ingestion to AI-driven, actionable business insights.
BigQuery Capabilities
Connects Data to AI
BigQuery helps you create and run machine learning models using SQL.
You can perform multi-modal data analysis using the latest artificial intelligence models.
Provides Built-In Data Governance
BigQuery includes native data governance with Dataplex. It enables AI-powered metadata search, lineage, profiling, and policy management.
Provides Enterprise Capabilities
BigQuery provides users with data backup and recovery features, operational health monitoring, and migration services for transitioning to BigQuery from legacy.
Enables Real-Time Data Analytics
Run real-time data pipelines using managed Kafka, SQL-based continuous queries in BigQuery. Integrate seamlessly with open-source streaming frameworks and support open formats like Apache Iceberg. Everything is backed by enterprise-grade orchestration through Dataflow.
Enables Unified Governance with Open-Format Analytics
Run serverless Spark and SQL workloads together in BigQuery using open formats like Iceberg and Delta. BigQuery provides you with unified security, metadata, and governance built in.
Offers Built-In AI Agents
Work more efficiently with data using Gemini in BigQuery.
Gemini in BigQuery provides you with AI assistance to explore and understand data, and also transform, query, and visualize it.
BigQuery Pricing
BigQuery provides both free tier and on-demand pricing options to users. In the free tier option, users get 10 GiB storage and around 1 TiB queries on-demand. This is per month.
Batch loading and exporting are free when using the shared slot pool. Logical storage and streaming inserts start at $0.01 Per GiB and $0.01 per 200 MiB respectively. Physical storage pricing starts at $0.02. Simply put, pricing is based on compute, storage, and other additional services.
